Thai Democrat Party to hold mid-August meeting to choose new leader: Suthep
BANGKOK, July 7 – Thailand’s Democrat Party is expected to hold its general assembly in mid-August to choose a new leader to replace Abhisit Vejjajiva who resigned Monday to take responsibility for his party’s loss to the opposition Pheu Thai party in the July 3 general election, according to former party secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban.
Mr Suthep said the party will meet in the middle of next month as it wants its members to have more time to consider and decide regarding the new party leader who will be opposition leader in parliament.
