BANGKOK, 1 April 2011 (NNT) – The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has indicated that the flooding disaster in the South has prompted 90 percent of Thai travelers to cancel their tour packages to the region, incurring a loss of 3-4 billion THB so far.

After chairing a meeting to assess impacts from flashfloods in southern provinces of Thailand on the tourism sector, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Tourism and Sports Thanitta Savetsila Maneechote revealed that a total of 3-4 billion THB worth of tourism income had been lost on account of 90 percent cancellation by domestic travelers, who had previously booked their trips to the areas.
