Thailand: British tourist injured in elephant rampage

A British tourist was seriously injured and a Swiss woman was killed when two male elephants went on the rampage in Thailand.

The incident at Khao Sok national park, happened after two tour groups, carrying tourists on an elephant ecotour came head to head on a jungle path.

Mahouts were unable to control the two beasts – Buki and Bookburg – as they fought for the attention of a female elephant, Noi, according to Piya Naktongkul, the deputy provincial veterinarian of Surat Thani province.
