Thai court extradites 2 alleged British steroid importers to US

BANGKOK, Dec 16 — Thailand’s Court of Appeal’s on Thursday upheld a Criminal Court ruling to extradite two British nationals to face trial in the United States on charges of conspiring to smuggle and resell anabolic steroids in the US and European countries.

The two accused identified as Edwin Richard Crawley and Ashley Vincent Livingston were arrested in the seaside town of Pattaya, Chon Buri province in March, 2008 after the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) representative office in Thailand sought the help of Thai police to arrest and extradite the duo to stand trial in the US.

Mr Crawley and Mr Livingston were allegedly trying to smuggle, resell and deliver the steroids, which help increase protein synthesis within cells, resulting in the buildup of cellular tissue (anabolism), especially in muscles, to customers in the US and European countries.
