Thai Farmers block Phitsanulok-Nakhon Sawan road

About 1,000 farmers on Monday block the Phitsanulok – Nakhon Sawan road for the second day running, demanding the government raise the guaranteed price of rice for pledged crops to 14,000 baht per tonne.

On Sunday, the farmers from the lower northern provinces of Phitsanulok, Sukhothai and Kamphaeng Phet began blocking all four main in-bound and four out-bound lanes of Highway 117 at kilometre marker No 10 in front of Naresuan University in Muang district of Phitsanulok.

They left only the frontage roads open to traffic.
