Woman, 65, Found Alive in Coffin Moments Before Cremation in Nonthaburi

NONTHABURI – A 65-year-old woman was discovered alive inside her coffin just moments before her scheduled cremation in a startling incident at a Nonthaburi temple on Sunday. The near-tragedy occurred at Wat Rat Prakongtham in Bang Yai district, where temple staff opened the coffin for final preparations and noticed the woman moving.

The woman’s family had traveled from Phitsanulok after being informed by local officials that she had died the previous night. Her younger brother, who had cared for her for three years, stated that all necessary documents had been issued certifying her death before they placed her in the coffin and brought her to the temple under its “Final Home” funeral support program.

The temple’s abbot immediately arranged for the woman to be transported to a hospital, assuring the family that the temple would cover all medical expenses.
