Another Thai National Tortured to Death in Cambodian Border Town Poipet

BANGKOK – A Thai man has become the latest victim in a series of violent deaths linked to scam compounds in the Cambodian border town of Poipet, according to the Immanuel Foundation Thailand. The organization reported on Sunday that Narong Kam, also known as Don from Chiang Mai’s Mae Ai district, was tortured and electrocuted to death in the Bua Lai area of Poipet.

The foundation confirmed receiving notification of Narong’s death on November 22nd, though his body remains missing. This marks the fourth such case in recent weeks, following the torture death of Sarawut “Toto” from Samut Prakan on November 18th and the suspicious deaths of two young Thai women earlier in November.

The Immanuel Foundation has released Narong’s photograph with family permission, appealing for information from anyone who might have known him or worked alongside him. The organization noted that a close friend of Narong, who was also assaulted, has subsequently disappeared from the same area.
