BANGKOK, June 14 – Restaurateurs as well as bar owners along Bangkok’s Khao San Road, known as a haven for backpackers due to an abundance of inexpensive, delicious food, have hailed the lifting of the daily curfew by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) as they could once again enjoy brisk business.
Shortly after the NCPO announced over television and radio stations on Friday night about the lifting of the curfew imposed from midnight to 4am, restaurant and bar operators on Khao San Road smiled broadly, while many entertainment venues in the area installed giant TV screens to allow customers to enjoy the World Cup 2014 matches which are televised live in Thailand.
