Earthquake in Sumatra affects Songkhla, Phuket, no damages reported

SONGKHLA, June 23 – Residents living in hise-rise buildings in this southern province and Phuket reportedly felt the impact from a 6.3-magnitude earthquake that hit the north of the Indonesian island of Sumatra on Saturday.

However, no damages have been reported so far, according to Wanchai Sakudomchai, director of Southern Meteorological Center (East Coast) Songkhla, while tourists in Hat Yai district were not in a panic about the situation.
