A soldier was killed when his parachute failed to open during a skydiving demonstration to celebrate Children’s Day on Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred at Wing 41 Air Force Base in Chiang Mai in front of a panic-stricken crowd of parents and children who had come to see the show, which was part of the Children’s Day events held annually at the base.
