BMA launches Bangkok Clean and Green project

BANGKOK, 28 August 2011 (NNT)-Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumphand Paribatra is taking samples of fresh food at Prachaniwet market during his visit to meet Bangkok residents.

The Governor, his deputy Mr. Pornthep Techapaiboon and a team of executives have been visiting the fresh market which is located in Chatuchak district earlier today.

The food samples taken from the market will be tested for formalin, bleaching materials and other toxic contaminations to ensure safety for Bangkok consumers under the project entitled ‘Bangkok Clean and Green’.

The Governor said fresh food could be easily contaminated during the rainy season while the outbreak of diseases among people was no exception. Under the project, over 300 markets across Bangkok will be ensured of their hygiene while food prices are to be maintained at a reasonable level. The Bangkok Clean and Green project will also be extended to schools, local health services, gas stations, temples, offices and department stores.
