BANGKOK, 5 July 2011 (NNT) – US Ambassador to Thailand Her Excellency Kristie Anne Kenney has voiced the readiness of the US to work with the new government, the opposition as well as the civil sector but she has refused to comment on concerns over coup d’état in Thailand.
Speaking after meeting outgoing Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Tuesday morning for 20 minutes at Government House, Ms Kenney stated that she congratulated Mr Abhisit for the successful and smooth 3 July general election arrangement.
The ambassador voiced her readiness to work with the new government and the opposition. She said she made a phone call to congratulate incoming Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Monday for her victory in the election and ensure readiness of the US to work with the new Thai government.
