1,800 tree monitor lizards seized enroute to China

BANGKOK, April 8 — Thailand’s Customs Department officials arrested a man in Prachuap Khiri Khan province for attempting to smuggle nearly 2,000 live tree monitor lizards worth more than Bt1.8 million to Bangkok.

Customs Department Director-General Prasong Poontaneat told a press conference that a checkpoint set up at Silaloi sub district of Sam Roi Yot in the province by customs department investigators stopped a car for inspection and found many plastic boxes in the vehicle.
