BANGKOK, 2 February 2011 (NNT) – The number of patients infected with influenza A (H1N1) has risen to 470 people, with two fatalities, in January 2011 alone, according to the Department of Disease Control (DDC), the Ministry of Public Health.

DDC Director-General MD Manit Teeratantikanont stated that although the H1N1 spread situation in the country in the latter half of 2010 had improved considerably, it bounced back with 470 confirmed cases of infections, with two reported to have died, based on the record from the first three weeks of January 2011.

According to the reports from hospitals nationwide, 5-10% of outpatients treated in many provinces in the past three weeks have been found to have influenza-like symptoms. In addition, more than 10 percent of the patients admitted to hospitals in Chachoengsao and Samut Sakhon provinces have come down with the H1N1 virus.
