Three passenger boats destroyed in a fire on Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River
BANGKOK — Three passenger boats were gutted by fire on the Chao Phraya River near Asiatique The Riverfront on Sunday evening, causing significant damage but no injuries. The blaze, which erupted around 6:43 p.m., spread rapidly between vessels moored at Wat Ratchasingkhon pier in Bang Kholaem district.

According to police, the fire started on an empty passenger boat before igniting two adjacent vessels within minutes. Burning ropes snapped, setting the boats adrift in the river and complicating firefighting efforts. Firefighters contained the flames by 7:02 p.m. and fully extinguished them by 7:25 p.m.

The incident disrupted river traffic temporarily but did not affect nearby tourist activities at Asiatique. No casualties were reported, though the boats sustained extensive damage.
