PATTAYA – A violent altercation in the early hours of Sunday left a Chinese tourist injured and a Thai woman in police custody after a bottle was used as a weapon in South Pattaya. The incident, which occurred at 1:05 a.m. on Chaloem Phrakiat 25, drew a swift response from Pattaya City Police and local rescue volunteers.

The victim, 29-year-old Ms. Cui Jai, sustained a bleeding head wound and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Police at the scene arrested the alleged assailant, identified as 53-year-old Ms. Sakuna, who admitted to striking the tourist with a bottle. The suspect claimed she was provoked, stating she had overheard remarks she perceived as insults directed at Thai workers in the local entertainment industry. She further alleged that the confrontation intensified when the tourist appeared to attempt to kick her as she was exiting a vehicle.

A key witness, provided a different account of the escalation. He confirmed that the two women had initially been separated by bystanders following a verbal argument. However, as the Chinese tourist began to walk away, he stated that Ms. Sakuna retrieved a bottle from a bag and struck the victim on the head twice. He credited the intervention of others at the scene with preventing more serious injury and added that the suspect was known to be frequently intoxicated and unpredictable.
