Pickup Truck Crash Topples 12 Power Poles, Causing Major Disruption in Sri Racha

SRIRACHA – A major roadway in Sri Racha was completely shut down on September 28, 2025, after a pickup truck collided with a high-voltage power pole, triggering a domino effect that brought down a total of twelve poles. The incident on the Bueng-Bo Win road resulted in extensive damage, a widespread power outage, and a full-day traffic closure, with authorities urging motorists to seek alternate routes.

The crash occurred around 8:30 AM in the Bo Win sub-district. Emergency responders from the Sriracha Pure Yeang Thai Rescue Unit arrived at the scene alongside officers from the Bo Win Police Station and technicians from the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA). They discovered a devastating scene: a 500-meter stretch of road was rendered impassable, blocked by six high-voltage poles and six 12-meter-tall poles that had collapsed. The involved vehicle, a Mazda pickup truck, was found tilted on its side, lodged against the base of a pole.

The driver, identified as 41-year-old factory worker Mr. Sitthipong Nakun, sustained only minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Preliminary witness accounts suggest that Mr. Sitthipong, who had just finished a work shift, may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Witnesses reported the truck was traveling at high speed before it veered across lanes and struck a pole on the opposite side of the road. The initial impact created a chain reaction, with interconnected power lines pulling down the subsequent poles.

The falling infrastructure caused secondary damage, striking a passenger van and another pickup truck, and impacting nearby homes and shops. One school van driver described a narrow escape to local media, stating she swerved to avoid the collapsing poles and fled her vehicle as wires crashed down around her. The incident caused a complete power outage in the area, with PEA officials estimating that restoration efforts could extend into the following day.
