Tourists Complain About Foreign Beggars with Children in Pattaya

Pattaya, Thailand – Tourists visiting Pattaya, particularly around the popular Walking Street area in South Pattaya, have voiced their frustration over the persistent issue of foreign beggars harassing visitors. Many of these beggars, often carrying young children ranging from infants to 7-10 years old, roam the streets selling goods or soliciting sympathy. When tourists refuse to buy, some beggars resort to clinging to them or tugging at their arms in an attempt to pressure them into making a purchase.

On-site observations reveal that these begging groups are sizable, with some exploiting children as tools to extract money from tourists. At times, the children approach visitors, engaging them in conversation or using endearing gestures to soften their hearts and coax donations. The beggars sell a variety of items, including flowers, souvenirs, keychains, candy, and gum, while others beg for money outright.
