At least 18 children younger than 15-years old drowned in Surin Province

SURIN, 28 March 2014 (NNT) – At least 18 children younger than 15 have drowned in Surin Province during the first three months of this year, and provincial authorities are stepping up public awareness campaigns to prevent the rate from rising.

Mr. Yutthana Wiriyakitti spoke through the National Broadcasting Station of Thailand in Surin that many children were drowned to death in this northeastern province during the first three months of this year. He stated that a lot of children often choose to cool off from the summer heat during the holidays by swimming in rivers, natural water sources, irrigation canals and reservoirs.
