British National Arrested After Assault on French Tourist in Koh Samui Hotel

KOH SAMUI – A violent altercation at a Koh Samui hotel has resulted in the arrest of a 44-year-old British man and the hospitalization of two individuals, including a French tourist. The incident occurred on November 19th in Bo Phut, where police responded to a report of an assault around noon.

According to authorities, the suspect, identified as Mr. Richard, allegedly attacked 23-year-old French national Mathis upon discovering him in a hotel room with Richard’s 21-year-old Thai girlfriend, Ms. Kanokwan. Both victims sustained injuries requiring hospital treatment, with Kanokwan reportedly suffering more serious harm. Richard admitted to assaulting the French tourist but claimed his girlfriend’s injuries were self-inflicted, citing a history of self-harm behavior.

Bo Phut Police are awaiting comprehensive medical reports and Kanokwan’s recovery before proceeding with formal charges. The investigation continues as authorities work to verify the circumstances surrounding the injuries through witness statements and forensic evidence.
