The incident occurred around 9:10 a.m. in Ban Noi village, Takhian subdistrict in Nakhon Ratchasima. Firefighters from Huai Bong and Hin Dad subdistrict administrative organizations rushed to the scene after receiving emergency calls but faced challenges due to the isolated location. It took approximately 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze, which had fully engulfed a Chevrolet car.
Inside, authorities discovered the charred remains of Kittichai, the young victim. Preliminary investigations revealed that five people had traveled to the area, and four adults—including the child’s mother—exited the vehicle to collect mushrooms, leaving the boy asleep inside with the engine running to power the air conditioning.
Witnesses reported hearing an explosion-like sound before the car burst into flames. The adults attempted to rescue the child but were driven back by intense heat and rapidly spreading fire.
