Fire Engulfs Pattaya Auto Repair Shop, Two Injured in Blaze

PATTAYA — A major fire broke out at a tire shop and auto repair center on Phonprapanimit Road on Sunday afternoon, leaving two people injured and multiple vehicles destroyed. The incident, which occurred at approximately 3:30 PM, prompted a swift emergency response involving multiple firefighting units.

Authorities from the Nongprue Police Station, along with disaster relief teams from Nongprue Municipality, Pattaya City, and Pong Subdistrict, rushed to the scene with five fire trucks and rescue vehicles. Firefighters battled intense flames for over 40 minutes before gaining control, forcing the temporary closure of the road for safety.

Initial inspections revealed extensive damage, including five vehicles destroyed – a Toyota Alphard, a sedan, and a pickup truck among them. All workshop tools and equipment were completely burned. Two individuals were injured, with one suffering leg burns requiring hospitalization and the Alphard owner sustaining minor injuries.

The Alphard owner recounted that the fire erupted after a fuel mix-up at a nearby Bangchak gas station. A pump attendant allegedly filled the vehicle with the wrong diesel type, prompting the owner to visit the repair shop for a fuel drain. As the process neared completion, flames suddenly ignited, forcing workers and bystanders to flee.

Preliminary findings suggest a spark during fuel drainage may have triggered the blaze, though authorities will conduct a full forensic examination to confirm the exact cause. Police and fire safety officials are reviewing CCTV footage and witness statements to determine liability. The gas station attendant involved is expected to be questioned as part of the probe.
