BANGKOK – Police have launched an investigation after the mutilated body of a 72-year-old man was discovered beneath a bridge in Thung Khru district on the evening of September 25. Investigators from Thung Khru Police Station, along with forensic officers and medical examiners from Siriraj Hospital, attended the scene. The upper and lower sections of the body were found approximately three meters apart. The remains were retrieved by volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation and transported for a detailed post-mortem examination. Relatives and local residents informed police that the deceased had lived under the bridge for over a year. His sister revealed that he had previously been harassed by two young men who demanded money. She expressed suspicion of foul play, noting her brother’s phone had been stolen and that he frequently complained about being disturbed by drug users in the area.

Ms. Phueng, a 36-year-old local who regularly provided food and water to Mr. Chusak, stated that he had appeared unwell in the days preceding his death. She last saw him on September 21, when he was noticeably weak but declined her suggestion to seek medical help. Ms. Phueng also mentioned that he was often bothered by people near his shelter and suggested that monitor lizards common in the area may have scavenged the body after his death. The discovery was made by public health worker Mr. Krissanapong Wongkutphet, who reported noticing burn-like marks on the man’s legs before alerting authorities.
