Blacklisted German National Arrested After Illegally Entering Thailand

PHANG NGA, Thailand – Immigration police arrested a 64-year-old German man on Tuesday (March 25th) after discovering he had been illegally living in Thailand since mid-2024 while on the country’s immigration blacklist.

Acting on a tip from a local resident, Phang Nga Immigration officers tracked down Mr. R., who had been hiding in a secluded house in Tai Muang District for months. Neighbors reported his reclusive behavior, noting he rarely left the property and relied on food deliveries from an associate to avoid detection.

Investigations revealed that Mr. R. had evaded official immigration checkpoints by entering through natural border channels in Satun, southern Thailand on July 2024, remained off the grid by avoiding public interactions and legal documentation and failed to report to authorities, violating Thailand’s immigration laws.

Mr. R. was already on the Immigration Bureau’s blacklist, though the exact reason for his prior ban remains undisclosed. He now faces charges for illegal entry, under Section 81 of the Immigration Act, and possible deportation and a lifetime ban from re-entering Thailand.
