Yingluck Shinawatra urges media to adapt to new technologies

BANGKOK, 26 April 2012 (NNT) – Prime Minister of Thailand Yingluck Shinawatra said Thai media should vie for nothing but the truth in their news reports and constantly evolve to become adept at utilizing social media for the benefit of news propagation.

On the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Thai Television and the 35th anniversary of MCOT which operates Modernine TV yesterday, Ms. Yingluck chaired the launch of a new breed of Modernine TV’s news programs called “Bird’s Eye News”.

It is the first aerial news team of the station which will report stories from a helicopter. Among important participants at the celebration were Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office Mr. Nivatthamrong Boonsongpaisal and MCOT Acting Managing Director Mr. Jakrapan Yomjinda.

Honorable guests also had a chance to watch performances by a group of blind children from the Christian Foundation for the Blind in Thailand under the Royal Patronage of H.M. the King and visited the exhibition featuring the 35-year history of MCOT.

The Prime Minister, on behalf of the Ministry of Finance which is the major share holder of MCOT, also congratulated all MCOT staff members for their perseverance and hard work.
