Buddhists announces Bangkok Declaration

BANGKOK, 15 May 2011 (NNT) – The International Council of United Nation Day of Vesak has announced the Bangkok Declaration, emphasizing His Majesty the King’s Sufficiency Economy theory.

Buddhist leaders, monks, and scholars from all over the world joined an international Buddhist Conference in Thailand, as part of the Visakha Puja Festival, which is recognized as an international event by the United Nations.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has sent a message, which was read at the conference, saying Lord Buddha’s teachings can help resolve severe problems facing today’s world.
