Thailand: Alleged phone scam gang busted

Police have arrested members of a Taiwanese group in Chon Buri alleged to have lured people into transferring more than 350 million baht into their accounts via ATM machines.

Thirteen suspects – nine Taiwanese and four Chinese nationals – were arrested in two separate raids on Friday.

Twelve of the suspects, five of them women, were apprehended at a house on Chaiporn Withi housing estate in Chon Buri’s Bang Lamung district. The other suspect, a Taiwanese national, was arrested at another house on Grand Home Place housing estate in Chon Buri’s Muang district.
