Highways Department director Piyapong Jiwattanakulpaisarn stated that the damaged section measured about 16 meters in length. He explained that while the pedestrian bridge was designed to withstand vertical loads, it could not endure the lateral impact from the truck. The overpass, originally built at a cost of around 10 million baht, will now be inspected by civil engineers to determine whether it must be fully demolished and replaced.
