PHUKET – Torrential rains triggered severe flooding in Phuket’s popular Patong area on Wednesday night, significantly disrupting Loy Krathong celebrations. The downpour inundated local streets and intersections, with floodwaters reaching waist-deep levels in some locations and rendering several roads impassable for small vehicles.

Residents and shop owners on Soi Na Nai were forced into swift action, scrambling to move belongings to higher ground to mitigate damage as water poured into commercial and residential premises. The situation was exacerbated by a high tide, which critically delayed the drainage of the floodwater and prolonged the inundation.
