Austrian National Arrested at Phuket Airport for Forgery and 578-Day Overstay
PHUKET – An Austrian national has been apprehended at Phuket International Airport for possessing a passport with counterfeit immigration stamps and overstaying his visa by nearly two years. The 41-year-old man was detained in the international departure hall on November 15th while attempting to leave the country.

Immigration officers discovered forged entry and exit stamps in the suspect’s passport during routine checks, revealing he had remained in Thailand without permission for 578 days after his legal authorization expired. The arrest was conducted under the direction of the airport’s Immigration chief following an investigation by specialized divisions.

The individual now faces serious charges including using forged official seals and overstaying his visa. Authorities have not released the suspect’s name pending further investigation into how he managed to evade detection during his extended illegal stay in the kingdom.
