Ammonia Leak at Trang Ice Factory Hospitalizes Two, Prompting Emergency Response

TRANG – An ammonia leak at an ice production facility in Trang sent two individuals to the hospital on November 23rd, triggering a swift emergency response. The incident occurred around 10:50 AM at a factory located in the Thap Thiang subdistrict of Muang District, where a damaged tank lid caused the hazardous chemical to escape.

According to Dr. Rak Booncharoen, Mayor of Trang, specialized fire and rescue teams from the municipal Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation were immediately dispatched to the scene. Authorities successfully contained the leak and issued safety advisories to residents in the vicinity, urging them to avoid the area. The two affected individuals, who suffered respiratory irritation from ammonia inhalation, were transported to Trang Hospital and are reported in stable condition.

Officials confirmed the leak has been fully contained with no further release of ammonia. Ongoing monitoring and inspections are being conducted to ensure community safety and prevent a recurrence of the incident.
