Landslide Kills Child, Triggers Province-Wide Emergency in Flood-Hit Satun

SATUN – A nine-year-old girl was killed and her brother injured when a rain-saturated hillside collapsed onto their home in Satun province, prompting authorities to declare the entire province an emergency disaster area. The tragic incident occurred on November 23rd in Khuan Kalong district as the child slept, with rescue workers requiring over 45 minutes to recover her body from beneath the heavy debris.

Mass Evacuation Ordered in Hat Yai as Flood Crisis Worsens

The landslide came amid severe flooding that has now affected seven districts across Satun, submerging 92 villages and impacting more than 8,500 residents. Acting Governor Kanit Kongchuy, who visited the grieving family, has ordered the immediate evacuation of all households in identified landslide-risk zones along foothill areas. The provincial government is establishing evacuation centers while urging residents to relocate to safer locations.

Emergency response efforts have been intensified with the deployment of Royal Thai Armed Forces personnel to the most critically affected districts of Khuan Don and La-ngu. Military teams are conducting evacuations, particularly for bedridden and elderly residents, while also addressing clean water shortages.

Severe Flooding Halts 10 Southern Train Services, Routes Adjusted

Transportation networks have been severely disrupted, with key roads either reduced to single lanes or completely cut off by floodwaters, complicating rescue and relief operations as the province braces for potential further rainfall.
