Two Brazilians Apprehended in Bangkok with Cocaine Parcel from Portugal

BANGKOK – Thai narcotics officers have arrested two Brazilian nationals in Bangkok’s Bang Na district for allegedly receiving an international parcel containing one kilogram of cocaine. The seizure, which took place on October 22, 2025, followed a coordinated investigation by the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) in partnership with the Customs Department and local police.

Two Arrested After Cocaine Parcel Intercepted at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Authorities first identified the suspicious package originating from Portugal on October 20 during a routine inspection. Upon examination, approximately 1,000 grams of cocaine were discovered concealed within the packaging. After confirming the contents, investigators replaced the drugs with a substitute substance and established surveillance at the delivery location.

The two suspects were taken into custody as they arrived to collect the parcel. A subsequent search of their residence uncovered equipment suspected to be used for repackaging and distributing narcotics. This discovery suggests the individuals were connected to broader international drug smuggling operations targeting local distribution networks, particularly within Bangkok’s entertainment venues.

ONCB Secretary-General Pol. Lt. Col. Suriya Singhamon emphasized the importance of interagency cooperation in the successful operation. He stated that Thailand “will not allow the country to be used as a transit route or storage hub for illicit drugs” and praised the patient, precise work of all involved units. The estimated street value of the confiscated cocaine is between three and 3.5 million baht.

The investigation continues as authorities work to identify additional members of the trafficking network and trace the full route of the drug shipment from Europe. The ONCB and its partners under the Ministry of Justice have reaffirmed their commitment to protecting Thai society from narcotics and have encouraged public cooperation through their anti-drug hotline.
