PATTAYA, Aug 3 – A boisterous foreign couple became an overnight social media sensation after their drunken escapades on a public baht bus were caught on camera, dividing online audiences between amusement and disapproval.

The now-viral video, originally shared by Saih Khao Pattaya Facebook page, shows the intoxicated pair engaged in an animated embrace while riding through South Pattaya on Thursday evening. With the woman straddling the man’s lap and the vehicle noticeably rocking, the footage quickly raised eyebrows among viewers, some of whom questioned whether the couple had crossed the line of acceptable public behavior.

The incident occurred around 8:00 PM on August 2 as the baht bus approached the popular Walking Street entertainment district. The 38-year-old driver, tracked down by local reporters, recounted picking up the couple near Pattaya Second Road en route to the beachfront.

“As traffic slowed near Walking Street, I felt the whole truck shaking,” the driver recounted. “When I checked the mirror, I saw them bouncing wildly on the seat. My first thought was – what on earth are they doing back there?”

After pulling over for a closer look, the driver realized the pair were simply drunk and fooling around rather than engaging in more serious misconduct. “The way they were moving made my eyes pop at first,” he admitted with a laugh. “But once I understood they were just playing, I couldn’t stay mad.”

While issuing a mild reprimand, the driver accepted the couple’s insistence they meant no harm before continuing their journey and eventually dropping them at a Pratumnak Hill hotel.

“This beats anything I’ve seen in all my years driving a songthaew,” the amused driver added. “It gave me quite a start initially, but it’s definitely a story I’ll be telling for years.”
