PHUKET, Thailand – A French man was taken to hospital after suffering a cut to his right palm during a reported struggle over a knife with his Thai girlfriend at a monthly rental room in Patong in the early hours of August 28, with police responding to a report of a fight and assault involving the couple. Police were called to the property on Nanai Road, near Kasemsap Village in Patong, Kathu district, at approximately 7:00 a.m., and Patong Police Station chief Pol. Col. Kornkrit Khankrua was informed and later inspected the property.

Officers found the 23-year-old woman from Si Sa Ket province, who identified herself as the injured man’s girlfriend, and she told police she had been in a relationship with the 28-year-old French national for about five months. The initial police investigation found that the pair had argued at around 5:00 a.m., and the woman was reportedly holding a knife during the dispute, with the man trying to take it from her and grabbing the blade, leaving him with a cut on the palm of his right hand, according to police.

Afterwards, he reportedly lay down to rest, but when the bleeding did not stop, he walked to a nearby 7-Eleven convenience store, where rescue workers were called to take him to Patong Hospital for treatment. Investigators later went to the hospital to assess the man’s condition and question him about what happened, while police said they would continue to examine the circumstances, gather evidence, and take action in accordance with the law.
