Pattaya Police Raid Chinese National’s Villa Over Social Media Gun Posts
Pattaya, July 8, 2025 – Tourist police stormed a luxury villa in Pattaya’s Thepprasit area early Tuesday morning, arresting a Chinese national after social media posts showed him posing with firearms. The raid, authorized by the Pattaya Provincial Court, targeted 47-year-old Liu, whose online activity raised suspicions of illegal weapons possession.

Acting on a tip about Liu’s social media profile pictures featuring firearms, officers arrived at the two-story villa at 6:30 AM. After receiving no response at the gate, they entered and detained seven individuals—six Chinese nationals and a Thai driver—before identifying Liu as the primary suspect.
A search of Liu’s bedroom uncovered a BB handgun, a long-barrel BB rifle, and 16 rounds of 9mm live ammunition in a safe. While Liu claimed the firearms in his posts belonged to friends or were rented from a shooting range, police arrested him for possessing the ammunition without authorization.
