Pattaya Police Crack Down on Noisy Kuwaiti Motorbike Races Following Resident Outcry

PATTAYA – Pattaya City Police launched a late-night operation in South Pattaya early Tuesday, July 9th, targeting a large group of Kuwaiti nationals whose disruptive motorbike antics have plagued the neighborhood. The crackdown came after exhausted residents reported sleepless nights due to roaring engines, incessant honking, and illegal street racing that regularly continues until dawn.

Authorities mobilized over 10 officers to establish checkpoints along Soi VC around 3:30 AM after locals described the noise as unbearable, particularly for elderly residents and young children. Police quickly intercepted the group—estimated at more than 50 individuals—as they raced through the area. While some riders attempted to evade capture by making sudden U-turns, officers successfully impounded at least 10 motorcycles and issued citations.

Initial inspections revealed widespread violations, including unlicensed driving, failure to wear helmets, and illegally modified exhaust systems. All offenders were ordered to report to the police station later that morning to face fines, with authorities warning that repeat offenses could result in deportation.

The incident highlights an ongoing seasonal issue coinciding with the annual summer influx of Kuwaiti students vacationing in Pattaya. Last year, similar disturbances escalated into violent clashes between locals and foreign visitors, prompting calls for stricter enforcement.

Police Colonel Thanet Sukchai emphasized a zero-tolerance approach, stating, “We will not allow any group to disregard Thai laws or disrupt public peace.” City officials are reportedly considering additional measures, including curfews for modified vehicles and increased patrols in affected areas.

Residents expressed cautious optimism about the intervention but urged authorities to implement long-term solutions before the situation deteriorates further. The Pattaya Tourist Police have also been alerted to monitor the situation closely amid concerns about rising tensions.
