The arrest followed a coordinated operation involving the Phuket Provincial Investigation Unit, Immigration Bureau, Chalong Police Station, and the Provincial Public Health Office. During the raid, officers seized more than 13 pieces of medical and cosmetic equipment allegedly used to perform unauthorized aesthetic procedures at the illicit clinic.
The suspect, identified only as Ms. M., was found to be operating without the required medical permits from Thai health authorities. Investigators also determined she lacked a valid work permit to legally conduct business in Thailand. The illegal clinic had reportedly been offering various beauty treatments to clients prior to its shutdown.
Following her arrest, Ms. M. was transferred to Chalong Police Station where she faces multiple charges related to operating an unlicensed medical facility and violating Thailand’s immigration laws. Authorities have not disclosed how long the clinic had been in operation or whether any clients suffered adverse effects from procedures performed there.
This case highlights Thailand’s intensified efforts to regulate its booming medical tourism industry and curb unauthorized beauty clinics that have proliferated in tourist areas.
