Cyclist shoots acid into the face of a young girl in Berlin
Berlin police have reported that a man, riding a bicycle, has thrown acid into the face of young women from the German capital. It is the fifth such incident in Berlin since December.
The cyclist threw a still unidentified acid with a water gun into the face of a 27-year-old girl, who had to be sent to a hospital for eye injuries. Police investigate whether these events are related to other similar attacks that have also occurred in the German capital between December and January. These cases have in common the area where they have registered the “modus operandi”, with the use of a bicycle and throwing acid with a water gun, the night and the profile of the victims, women between 27 and 30 years.
The first two cases occurred on 7 December, in a matter of minutes, in the district of Prenzlauer Berg; Followed, just one day later, by a new attack in the district of Charlottenburg. In January a new aggression was committed with this same pattern, in which the victim was a young woman, this time of 27 years, and repeated the scene of the events of the first attacks of December.
In at least one case, the researchers have identified the liquid used by the attacker as battery acid.
