Heavy downpours help Northeast weather through drought

BANGKOK, 9 July 2015 (NNT) – The drought situation in many northeastern provinces has eased off following heavy rains while the rainy season is expected to begin hitting the country with full force late this month.

According to Deputy Government Spokesperson Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd, a monsoon trough recently generated rainfall in 60-70 percent of the Northeast, covering such provinces as Udon Thani, Surin, Nong Bua Lamphu, Nong Khai, Kalasin and Maha Sarakham.
