Flood hits tourist island of Phuket

PHUKET, Sept 26 – Heavy rains triggered a flood in the tourist island of Phuket overnight, and the local weather department warned six southern Thai provinces to brace for more heavy rain and flash flooding.

Overnight rain triggered major flooding in Phuket and some roads in Patong municipality are impassable. Many areas in Phuket are flooded as deep as one metre in some spots and portions of the flooded roads have been temporarily closed to traffic.
