Body of Canadian Tourist Recovered Off Prachuap Khiri Khan Coast
PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN – The body of a Canadian tourist who went missing while swimming in rough seas earlier this week was found floating off the coast of Sam Roi Yot district on January 10, ending a three-day search hampered by dangerous sea conditions.

The discovery was made by a local fishing vessel near the Don Ta Khaeng sandbank, about one nautical mile offshore. The body, which showed signs of decomposition, was brought to shore at Khlong Bang Hak in Sam Roi Yot subdistrict, where police, forensic officials, and rescue workers conducted an initial examination.
The deceased was identified as Mr. T. G. J., 63, from Canada. He was found wearing only grey swimwear and bore distinctive tattoos, including a five-line yantra tattoo on his left shoulder and lettering on his right arm. No signs of assault were detected.
According to police, Mr. J. had traveled to Hua Hin with two friends on January 7 and was swimming near Wat Khao Takiab despite strong waves when he was swept under. Search operations were suspended shortly after due to waves reaching two to three meters high.

Authorities have classified the death as a drowning and are coordinating with the Canadian Embassy to facilitate repatriation procedures. The incident has prompted renewed warnings to tourists and locals to avoid swimming during periods of high surf and adverse weather conditions.
