PHETCHABURI — A police officer from Muang Phetchaburi station shot and killed a couple selling eggs at a local market early Saturday morning before turning the gun on himself in an apparent dispute over competing businesses, the Bangkok Post reported.

The tragedy unfolded around 5:43 a.m. in the Tha Rab area, where authorities discovered the bodies of a 33-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, owners of an egg stall, both fatally shot. Minutes later, a gunshot was heard nearby, where the assailant—a plainclothes officer—was found dead from a self-inflicted wound.
Witnesses and local vendors reported that the officer’s wife also sold eggs at the same market, and the two parties had engaged in repeated quarrels over commercial competition. The conflict allegedly escalated into violence on Saturday morning, culminating in the murder-suicide.
