Martial law invoked to halt cross-border travel in Chanthaburi

A Thai naval commander in Chanthaburi province has invoked martial law to order the temporary suspension of cross-border travel between Thailand and Cambodia at two permanent checkpoints, citing national security reasons.

The order is effective immediately but it exempts Cambodian workers employed in Thailand, and border trade will also be allowed to continue as normal, said Capt Nopparoj Siripariyapong, commander of the Chanthaburi Marine Task Force.
