Phuket, May 3, 2025 — A 34-year-old Polish man died in the early hours of Saturday morning after falling from a condominium balcony in Patong, Phuket. The incident, which occurred around 3:00 AM on Phra Metta Road, has left authorities investigating whether alcohol impairment played a role in the fatal accident.

According to police reports, the victim and his wife had been staying at a nearby hotel and were drinking on their condo balcony before the tragedy unfolded. In a statement to investigators, the wife recounted that her husband stood up suddenly, lost his balance, and toppled over the railing, plunging several stories to the ground below.

Emergency responders, including Patong Police, forensic teams from Vachira Phuket Hospital, and evidence specialists, arrived swiftly but found the man lifeless and face-down near the building’s perimeter. No signs of foul play were immediately detected, though authorities have not ruled out further examination of the scene.

The victim’s body has been transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy to confirm the precise cause of death. Police are also reviewing CCTV footage from the building and interviewing witnesses to reconstruct the moments leading up to the fall.

Given the involvement of a foreign national, the Polish Embassy has been notified and will assist in repatriating the remains to his family for funeral arrangements.

This incident marks yet another fatal balcony fall involving tourists in Thailand, where intoxication and inadequate railings have contributed to similar tragedies in the past. Just last year, a British man died under comparable circumstances in Pattaya.

Local authorities have long warned about the dangers of drinking near high-rise edges, particularly in tourist-heavy areas like Patong, where nightlife and beachfront condos attract revelers.
