Deadly Collision in Pathum Thani Claims Two Lives, Injures 25

A horrific crash between a passenger bus and a six-wheeled truck on the Taling Chan-Suphan Buri Road in Lat Lum Kaeo District left two dead and 25 injured early Saturday morning, marking one of the province’s worst traffic accidents this year.

The tragedy unfolded at 8:30 AM when the bus, carrying passengers to a meditation center in Ayutthaya, plowed into the rear of a parked truck unloading a backhoe. The impact was catastrophic – the bus driver died instantly at the scene, while another victim succumbed to injuries at Lat Lum Kaeo Hospital.

Survivor Wanna Srisuwan, 66, described being jolted awake as the bus careened off the road. “We were thrown violently from our seats,” the Bangkok resident said while being treated for bruises. “People were screaming, glass was everywhere.”

The truck driver, 42-year-old Rakchart Phumisak, miraculously escaped unharmed. He claims he had properly parked in the right lane with hazard lights on when the bus slammed into his stationary vehicle. “The force sent my truck spinning 200 meters down the road,” Rakchart told police.

Rescue teams worked feverishly to extract victims from the twisted wreckage. 22 passengers suffered minor injuries, 3 sustained serious trauma.

Pathum Thani governor Somnuek Thanadechakorn has ordered a full investigation into whether speeding, driver fatigue, or mechanical failure caused the collision. “This stretch of road has seen too many tragedies,” he lamented at the scene.

The victims’ remains have been sent to the Justice Ministry’s forensic institute, while injured passengers continue treatment at three area hospitals. Authorities warn the death toll could rise as some victims remain in critical condition.
