Father of missing Chinese model appeals to Thai police for help

The father of a Chinese male model, who vanished more than two weeks ago near the Thai-Myanmar border, has turned to Thailand’s police chief for assistance in the desperate search for his son. The case has drawn widespread attention, as the rugged border region is notorious for its dangerous terrain and reports of criminal activity.

Missing Chinese actor Xingxing found near Thailand-Myanmar border

The missing individual, Yang Zeqi, is a rising Chinese male model who had been traveling in Thailand for a photoshoot and leisure. Yang entered Thailand in December 2024 and was last seen in the border town of Mae Sot, Tak Province.

Thai authorities investigating the disappearance of Yang Zeqi, have revealed unsettling details about his last known communication.

According to Mr. Ratchaphon, a representative of the investigation team, Yang made a video call to his mother via WeChat on December 29, 2024, during which he appeared worried and frightened.

During the call, Yang’s mother noticed that he seemed unusually agitated and scared. He reportedly looked over his shoulder multiple times, as though concerned about someone nearby.

Yang did not explain the source of his fear or provide specific details about his location. He mentioned that he was traveling in the Mae Sot area but cut the call short, claiming he would contact her again soon.

Following this video call, all attempts to reach Yang via his phone or social media accounts have been unsuccessful.

The video call has become a crucial piece of evidence, leading investigators to suspect that Yang might have been coerced or threatened.

Thai police are working with forensic specialists to analyze digital traces from Yang’s WeChat account and phone records.

Rescue teams have intensified searches around Mae Sot and nearby border areas, particularly locations known for human trafficking and cross-border crime.

Yang’s mother, speaking through an interpreter, described her anguish over her son’s disappearance: “He looked so scared. I knew something was wrong, but he didn’t tell me anything. I just want him home safely.”
