The collapse occurred during construction work, with steel frames and a crane giving way and causing a massive concrete beam to fall onto the roadway.

Initial reports indicate that the collapse was likely due to structural instability or equipment failure, but an investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause.

Initially four workers were killed on-site and ten others sustained injuries of varying severity and were rushed to local hospitals for treatment, but the number of fatalities has since risen to six. Emergency responders and rescue teams worked to extract individuals trapped under the debris.

The collapse caused significant traffic congestion on Rama II Road, a major thoroughfare, as authorities worked to clear the debris and secure the site.

The Ministry of Transport and related agencies have expressed their condolences and vowed to identify accountability.
