Wat Sombon in Thai วัดสมบุญ, is a very original Buddhist temple situated in Bueng Bun a district of Sisaket Province in Northeast Thailand, a region commonly referred to as Isan.

Wat Sombon which literally means “the temple of the worthy merit”, was built with a very unusual structure in the shape of a ocean vessel beautifully located in the middle of fields, which makes this temple unique in the region.

This is not the only one boat-shaped temple you can visit in Thailand, but it’s worth a visit if you’re holidaying in Sisaket.

If you enjoy visiting innovative temples, I also recommend you to take a look at The Million Bottle Temple also located in Sisaket.
