Wat Phra Singh, Chiang Mai

Wat Phra Singh Woramahaviharn is one of the best known and most visited temples in Chiang Mai, it is perhaps the second most venerated temple in the city after Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. This temple is situated in the west of Chiang Mai, inside the old city wall.

Wat Phra Singh complex houses different structures. Built in 1345, the main attraction of the temple is Wihan Lai Kham and hosts the Phra Buddha Sihing statue and features murals and gold patterns. Inside the temple compound there is a beautiful temple-library called Ho Trai. Visitors can admire the Kulai chedi, connected by a tunnel with Wihan Lai Kham. Other structures are the Wihan Luang, a ubosot built in 1806 and the Pha That Luang.

Wat Phra Singh contains a copy of the Emerald Buddha which is originally located in Bangkok.
